Karl Schenkl (1827–1900) was an Austrian classical scholar and Professor at the Universities of Innsbruck, Graz, and Vienna. He produced Teubner editions of several Greek and Latin authors, including Epictetus. Schenkl was known for his careful manuscript collation and his contributions to the Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum Latinorum (CSEL).
Schenkl's Teubner editions provide reliable critical texts based on systematic manuscript collation. His apparatus criticus is thorough, recording significant variants and scholarly conjectures. The editions reflect the high standards of Austro-German classical philology in the second half of the 19th century.
