Pyxis with Animal Frieze

Red-figure 6256 · Pyxis · 4th-3rd century BCE (Classical-Hellenistic)
The body of the pyxis is decorated with a bull, griffin, and dog in profile with volutes on each side of the dog separating it from the other creatures. The lid is decorated by a pattern of palmettes and volutes surrounded by a border of egg-and-dart.
