Euphronios was an Athenian red-figure vase-painter and potter active c. 520–470 BC. He was a member of the Pioneer Group, the first generation of red-figure painters who developed the technique invented c. 530 BC. As a painter, he was celebrated for his anatomical precision, his mastery of foreshortening, and his ambitious multi-figure compositions. His later career as a potter (after c. 500 BC) saw him collaborate with younger painters including Onesimos and the Panaitios Painter. His workshop was one of the most important in the Kerameikos district of Athens.
