Fragmentary Attic Red-Figure Oinochoe

Red-figure Shuvalov Painter · Oinochoe · 430–420 B.C.
Polyneikes bribes Eriphyle with the necklace of Harmonia. At far left, there is a female dressed in a peplos, with a phiale in each hand. Polyneikes, facing right, wears a petasos, a mantle that exposes his body, and shoes bound up around his calves. Two spears rest against his shoulder. He holds a wicker casket in his left hand, from which he would have withdrawn the necklace (no longer preserved). Eriphyle sits before him, facing left, wearing a mantle and chiton. Her left arm rests on the back of the chair.
