Attic Red-Figure Stemless Kylix

Red-figure Q Painter · Kylix · about 380 B.C.
This cup has the same interior decoration as 79.AE.199 except the central impression is a ring of five horseshoes around a circumscribed central dot; six central palmettes surround in a six-pointed star pattern. The exterior has the same three-figures construction. On one side a youth to the left grabs a rearing bull by the horn, both facing right. On the right a youth strides right and looks left, giving a beckoning gesture with his right arm. Both youths are wreathed in added white. On the other side Nike stand in the center facing left crowning a youth. He stands facing her, arms at his sides. To the left another youth faces right. Both are wreathed in added white. The handle zones and underside are decorated as on 79.AE.199.
