Alabastron

Alabastron · 6th–4th century B.C.
Core-formed alabastron of olive-green/gray glass decorated with fine bands of alternating opaque yellow and turquoise glass trailed around the piece horizontally then vertically combed to form a zig zag pattern. Two scroll handles are attached, one on each side of the upper body. Beneath the handles the same glass was attached and pinched into triangles. Likewise the rim was added, being flattened while turned; following a ribbbon of yellow glass was added to its edge.
