An. 6.3.25; dat., ἐπιτυγχάνει πυροῖς ἐρήμοις ib.7.2.18, cf. Cyr. 4.2.16; of volcanic fires, Arist. Mir. 833a1; πυρά . . εὔδηλα πᾶσι Scymn. 258: metaph., δῆμος π. ἐς τὸν Τίβεριν πολλὰ ἐνέβαλε D.C. 55.13. (A sg. πυρόν is cited by Hdn.Gr.2.944, but rejected by Eust. 729.63: the accent, as well as dat. πυροῖς, shows that πυρά does not belong to πῦρ.)
