Tetradrachm with Antiochus VIII

121–96 B.C.
Obverse: Diademed head of Antiochus VIII (Grypus), facing to the right, with the ends of the diadem falling behind his neck. Fillet border. Reverse: Zeus Ouranios, standing and facing towards the front, with his head turned towards his outstretched right hand, with which he holds a Macedonian star. He holds a sceptre in his left hand. Above his head, a crescent moon. Inscribed in Greek, vertically, around Zeus: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ ("Basileos Antioxoy, Epiphanoys"). In exergue, inscribed in Greek with symbols indicating the year of Antiochus VIII's reign in which this was minted; in field to left, abbreviation indicating the mint. Figure and inscription surrounded by a laurel wreath.
