Vases Orientalising

Orientalising

Period c. 720–620 BC
Collection 222 vases
As Greek trade with the Near East expanded, potters adopted eastern motifs — lions, sphinxes, griffins, lotus flowers — creating a luxuriant new decorative vocabulary. Corinth led this revolution, and Proto-Corinthian pottery is its finest expression.
