Statuette of a Nike
The statue depicts Nike alighting. Her right arm is raised, her left arm is extended out from her side. The contour of her advanced right leg is visible through her thin garment, a sleeveless chiton fastened at each shoulder by a button and tied high under her breasts to form an overfold (apoptygma). Her hair is drawn into a bun at the back. The crown is covered by a small, kerchief-like veil, folded back and bound by a fillet with a small disc in center forehead, tiny knots on either side. Globular earrings; soles of sandals and traces of painted straps are still visible.
