Stamped Amphora Handle

Amphora · 140-190 CE
The stamps with the inscription LCMY almost all show the peculiar ligature of MY, where the lower stroke of the Y provides the final side stroke of the M. It is not known how to complete the name of L. C( ) My( ). Examples have been found in Rome, Britain, and Germania. One example came from a complete globular amphora, making it almost certain that the origin for these was south Spain.
