Aryballos · about 675–650 B.C.
Ovoid body, wide flat lip, strap handle, small foot. Decoration in dull black with incised details: spiral hooks on lip, lotus and spiral pattern on shoulder. On front of body two sphinxes facing one another; on back of body two antelopes. On lower body a frieze of running dogs; rays on foot. Principal design: (A) two sphinxes, facing one another, (B), two antelopes. Figures considerably effaced. Below a band of running dogs.
