Makron was an Athenian red-figure vase-painter active c. 490–470 BC, one of the most prolific cup-painters of his generation. He worked almost exclusively with the potter Hieron, and their partnership produced some of the finest kylikes of the early 5th century. Makron is best known for his Dionysiac scenes, maenad dances, and mythological narratives rendered with flowing lines and a distinctive sense of movement.
