Mosaic Bowl

end of 1st century B.C.–1st century A.D.
Mosaic cast glass bowl comprised of polygonal sections of two canes, one in dark violet ground with fine yellow and blue rods in a six petal flower motif surrounded by white, and the other a dark violet ground with opaque white center surrounded by ten smaller white circles. A green molten glass has been added to the rim, seemingly after slumping, and may be an instance of an ancient repair of a gap. The bowl has a flared lip and a ring base attached from a length of the same cane used to create one of the radial disks.
