Head of a Votive Statue

450–400 B.C.
This life-size head depicts a young man with long, side curls falling in front of his ears. The rest of the hair is rendered in short, straight locks, with more attention and detail present in the front of the head. The nose is long, narrow and slightly hooked. The lips are thin and tight and the ears are large. Traces of white slip remain on several parts of the head. The rough break at the neck indicates that it was once part of a statue or bust.
