Head of a Boy Piper

A head of a young aulist (piper) with his head slightly turned and inclined to its right. His hair is worked into rough S curls that gather around the brow and lie flat. A thin band of uncarved and unpolished marble encircles the head; it most likely supported a metal fillet. His face is round and full. He has a prominent brow and his eyes look up towards the right. His cheeks are distended from blowing into the double pipes. The head was broken off at the neck and the entire left side and back of the head are missing. There are some losses to the nose, left eye, and left cheek; there is some scarring on the brow.
