Fragmentary Attic Red-Figure Rhyton and Attic Red-Figure Fragment

Red-figure Brygos Painter · 480–470 B.C.
The rhyton is decorated around the rim with a symposion. Two semi-nude youths recline on either side of a bearded man. One youth plays the double aulos while the bearded man turns to the other companion with finger crooked around the handle of his cup in preparation for a game of kottabos. The other youth is tying a fillet around his head. On the wall behind each hangs a basket of provisions and a walking stick. In the field near each figure is inscribed KALOS in added red.
