Fragmentary Attic Black-Figure Psykter-Oinochoe

Black-figure Oinochoe · about 530 B.C.
This fragmentary psykter-oinochoe was broken and reshaped in antiquity. The outer walls, which comprised the oinochoe, are now missing; only the psykter part survives. On the shoulder are polychrome tongues; the upper portion of the boy is glazed, the lower, incluing the oinochoe wall root, is reserve. On the stem are cavorting nude males. On the upper face of the foot, lotus buds alternate with single leaves. The ancient repair consists of four pairs of lead staples, still partially preserved.
