Fragment of an Attic Red-Figure Vase in the form of a Satyr holding a Keras (comprised of 13 joined fragments)

Red-figure 500–490 B.C.
ragment belongs to a figural vessel in the form of an ithyphallic satyr sitting on a full wineskin, holding a large drinking horn (keras). The fragment preserves most of the underside of the wineskin, which serves as the vessel’s base, a large part of one side of the skin, and its front section. Also surviving is the satyr’s right arm and hand, which rests just above one of the wineskin’s legs. The front section of the skin would have been positioned between the splayed legs of the satyr. There are extensive traces of white and pinkish-red pigment on the surface of the skin.
