Fragment of a Female Bust Antefix

510–490 B.C.
A fragment of a mold-made antefix, representing the left shoulder of a female figure. Two strands of black hair extend over the shoulder, which is covered by a short-sleeved red chiton with a pattern of white, three-dot clusters, and black and white bands along the sleeve edge. Two other antefixes exemplify this type (83.AD.211.11 and 83.AD.211.10), a bust of a nymph or goddess with both arms raised to either side of the head. The antefix series comrises female figures with white skin and a red chiton, which alternated with black-skinned females wearing a white chiton.
