Daunian Stele Fragment

650-500 BC
This fragment is comprised of a conical, helmeted head. The features of the face are cursorily rendered; the eyes are incised as two concentric circles with a central point. The mouth is rendered as a long rectangle. The edge of the figure's helmet is decorated with regularly spaced dots. The neck is finished to a flat surface on the underside and pierced with a deep hole in the centre, indicating that it is male.
