Chalice

625–575 B.C.
The chalice, slumped to one side during firing, is formed of a shallow convex bowl with a projecting flattened rim and an incised groove around the exterior wall. Below the bowl, the top tall stem is articulated by series of three recessed channels forming three rings that are square in section. The stem terminates in a trumpet-shaped foot embellished with a raised rounded molding and grooves. There is no painted decoration except for a creamy slip over the surface.
