Calyx Krater (mixing bowl for wine and water): Dionysos, Maenads with Torches, Satyr

Red-figure Mykonos Painter · Krater · c. 460 BCE
On one side, a woman (possibly a maenad) in chiton and mantle holding two lit torches in front of her faces a bearded Dionysos with ivy wreath and thyrsus (ivy-topped staff associated with Dionysos and his female followers, the maenads), who extends a kantharos (two-handled drinking cup)

On the other side, a woman with chiton and mantle holds a lit torch in the lowered right, countering the advances of satyr who has his left hand extended and holds a wineskin in his lowered right.
