Black-figure Kylix

Black-figure Kylix · c. 540-530 BCE
In the tondo is a large cock standing to right with a red comb and red tail feathers. To the right is an undulating snake. Near the head of the snake is a flower, possibly a lotus.

On the exterior is a continuous frieze of lions walking from right to left. Their long tails alternate between curling underneath and over the back. Their mouths are open and there is added red on the bellies and manes. Large black dots are used as fillers throughout the frieze.
