Basin

1st century B.C.–1st century A.D.
Large bronze basin, its exterior is decorated with a relief of a twelve-leafed calyx. The leaves are ribbed with parallel grooves and their tips fold outward. The larger leaves, which alternate, have a circular decoration on their folded tips. Between the leaves are alternating flowers and buds. Above is a relief frieze of Lesbian kymation (heart shaped leaves, separated by lance-like darts) and an undecorated band. The rim is decorated with a tongue pattern. The interior of the vessel is smooth and undecorated. It is similar in style to early Hellenistic types.
