Attic Red-Figure Nolan Amphora

Red-figure Richmond Painter · Amphora · about 440 B.C.
A: Balding satyr following a youth to right. The satyr wears a fillet and himation, and carries a staff in his right hand. The youth wears a himation over both shoudlers and a fillet. He walks to the right, looking back over his shoulder.

B: A muffled youth in profile to left, his himation hiding his body from nose to ankle. He wears a fillet in his hair.

The amphora has an echinus mouth, ridged handles and an echinus foot with a fillet. Ten broken meanders to left below the figures on A, and five similar meanders on B. The interior is glazed to a depth of 9 cm. A graffito is incised underfoot.
