Attic Red-Figure Cup Fragment

Red-figure Kylix · 490–480 B.C.
A fragment of the tondo, stem, and foot of a kylix. The side of the chamber, side of the foot, and resting surface are reserved. The underside of the foot and inside of the stem are glazed. On the exterior, below the figures, is a zone of horizontal encircled palmettes. The tondo depicts Eos and Kephalos. The goddess is missing her head, shoulders, and lower legs. She strides to the right carrying Kephalos, who is missing his head and lower right leg. Eos wears a long chiton and himation. Just below her left elbow is a little of her left wing.
