Attic Red-Figure Calyx Krater Fragment

Red-figure Krater · 480–470 B.C.
A trapezoidal fragment. The interior is black and undecorated. The exterior preserves the forelegs and neck of a stippled, cloven-hoofed animal, perhaps a goat, springing from a bell shaped object, perhaps the wide end of a cornucopia. Some of the black glaze is misfired. Underneath the right hoof of the animal is another unidentifiable element with a single stipple.
