Attic Red-Figure Bell Krater

A: two youths and a female lyre player (an auletris). From left, a youth walks to right, nude but for the chlamys around his shoulder and a headband. His head is lightly cast back as he plays his lyre (barbitos). Before him, the auletris stands in profile to the right. With a band around her head, she wears a chiton and a himation. Her cheek is inflated as she plays the double-pipes. At right, a youth gazes back at the woman, holding a skyphos in his left hand. He is nude but for the chlamys over his left shoulder, and wears a headband in his hair.
B: draped youths, one with a strigil, one leaning on a staff. Halteres (jumping weights) in the background.
Around the mouth, band of laurel leaves. Under the handles, floral pattern. Beneath the picture field, meander band with key pattern interspersed by dotted cross squares.
