Attic Black-Figure Siana Cup

Interior: In the tondo is a crouching warrior to the left, with a Boeotian shield (with insets infilled and a lotus and palmette blazon) and spear. Encircled by a tongue pattern (alternately black and red) and two thin rings of black.

Exterior: Battle scene. Side A: (1) A helmeted warrior with hoplite shield and spear, otherwise nude, faces right; (2) A helmetless warrior, bearded, with hoplite shield and spear, otherwise nude, faces right; (3) A youthful rider on horse to the left; (4) A bird flying to the left; (5) A helmeted warrior with hoplite shield to the left (blazon - some traces of incision, but uncelar); (6) A helmeted warrior with Boeotian shield (with insets infilled; lotus and palmette blazon) to the left. Side B: Seven warriors, helmeted but otherwise nude, to the left. All have Boeotian shields (with insets infilled; lotus and palmette blazon) except the 4th warrior (hoplite shield, tripod blazon) and 6th (hoplite shield, head (?) blazon. A few fragments have ancient repair holes.
