Attic Black-Figure Neck Amphora Fragment (part of 86.AE.74)

Black-figure Painter of the Nicosia Olpe · Amphora · about 550–540 B.C.

Fragment preserves the neck and one handle of an amphora. Inside of neck glazed to junction with shoulder; red line at join of mouth and neck. Triple handle (only one preserved), glazed. On the neck, alternating palmette-lotus chain with dotted links. Slight red ridge at join of neck and shoulder. On the shoulder, enclosed tongues. Goes with 86.AE.74, which preserves the body of the vessel.
