Attic Black-Figure Band Skyphos Fragment (joins to 82.AE.40.72)

Black-figure Skyphos · 540–530 B.C.
Exterior: two registers of decoration separated by a dilute glaze groundline. The top register shows two hoplites running to the right; the first carries a shield, the second, a spear; their upper torsos and heads are not preserved. The lower register depicts the head of one soldier, to the right, wearing a helmet. Interior: black, undecorated. This fragment joins to 82.AE.40.72, which completes the running hoplite on the right side of the top register, the groundline, and gives the end of the spear for the figure in the bottom register.
