Attic Black-Figure Band Cup Fragment

Black-figure Elbows Out · Kylix · 540 B.C.
Large fragment, giving most of the figured band on the exterior. Donkey galloping to right, flanked by two swans with wings outspread and a hen at right (similar to 86.AE.168.1, which gives the other side). Parts of the right wing and tail feathers of the swan at left are missing, as are part of the donkey's right foreleg and the added red of his pupil, and a section of the tail feathers of the hen at right.

Rounded lip and interior of bowl black save for a narrow reserved line inside the lip. Exterior black save for the figured band and a narrow reserved stripe toward the bottom of the bowl.
