Amphoriskos

6th–4th century B.C.
Core-formed, dark blue-green amphoriskos. Fine bands of opaque yellow and turquoise trailed horizontally around the piece, then combed in the vertical to form a feathered pattern in the central section that was smoothed and incorporated into the surface by marvering. After the core material was removed the handles were added as trails of molten blue glass attached to the sides of the sholders, pulled upward, and reattached to the neck. The rim was added and a ribbon of yellow was added to it exterior. The foot was made by coiling molten blue glass around the base of the body.
