Amphora mit Deckel, sog. "Glasamphora"

Die Amphora ist das größte aus der Antike erhaltene Glasgefäß, das vor Erfindung der Glasmacherpfeife hergestellt wurde. Das Prunkstück diente beim Gelage als Behälter für Wein, der rötlich durch das Glas schimmerte. Appliken in Form von Satyrn mit Weinschläuchen bildeten die Ausflüsse. This amphora is the largest extant ancient glass vessel produced before the invention of the glassblower’s pipe. The show-piece served as a container for wine at the banquet, with the wine shimmering red through the glass. Attachments in the shape of satyrs with wineskins formed the spouts.
