συγκαθίημι

A. ‐καθήσω E. Hel. 1068:—let down with or together, deposit together, κόσμον l.c.; αὑτὴν ς. let oneself down, lower oneself, εἴς τι Pl. Tht. 174a; ὁμοῦ ς. ἑαυτὸν εἰς τὴν θάλατταν threw himself into it along with her, Plu. 2.163c; insert together with, ἄγκιστρον τῷ δακτύλῳ Heliod. ap. Orib. 44.14.3. cf. Dsc. 2.76, 5.40; ς. Μούσας τοῖς Βατράχοις bring them upon the stage at the same time with . ., Arg.2 S. OC:—Pass., stoop down and enter, εἰς τόπον, of an ambush, Plb. 8.24.4.

II. (sc. ἑαυτόν) settle down, crouch, squat, Arist. Pr. 869b11, D.S. 20.51; συγκαθείσης τῆς θηλείας ἐπιβαίνει τὸ ἄρρεν Arist. HA 539b29.

2. stoop, condescend, accommodate oneself, οἱ . . γέροντες συγκαθιέντες τοῖς νέοις Pl. R. 563a; εἰς . . D.H. 6.56, etc.: abs., Pl. Prt. 336a, Tht. 168b; εἰς τὰ ἀναγκαῖα cj. in Epicur. Sent.Vat. 44.

3. of a seller, ς. τῇ τιμῇ come down in price, Lync. ap. Ath. 7.313f.
