A. cover, shelter, ἀνέμων σκεπόωσι κῦμα (Ep. for σκεπάουσι, σκεπῶσι) they ward off (provide shelter against) the sea raised by the wind, Od. 13.99; κόρυν σκεπάουσιν ἔθειραι Theoc. 16.81 (v.l. σκιάουσι).
