ῥόθος

A. make a rushing noise: hence, of a roaring fire, ἐν ῥοθοῦντι κριβάνῳ A. Fr. 309.
2. of any confused noise, ταῦτα . . ἐρρόθουν ἐμοί such clamours they raised against me, S. Ant. 290; λόγοι . . ἐρρόθουν κακοί there was a noise of angry words, ib.259.
