ῥίον

τό
A. any jutting part of a mountain, whether upwards or forwards; hence,
1. peak, περὶ ῥίον Οὐλύμποιο Il. 8.25, cf. 14.154, 225, etc.; ῥ. ὀρέων Od. 9.191; ῥ. οὔρεος h.Ap. 139.
2. headland, Od. 3.295; hence as pr. name of several places, esp. Ῥ. Μολυκρικόν and Ῥ. Ἀχαϊκόν at the mouth of the gulf of Corinth, Th. 2.86 (cf. 84).
3. later, bay formed by a foreland, Ael. NA 15.3. (Perh. akin to ῥίς, cf. Ness, Naze with nose.)
