ῥαβδουχέω

A. to be a ῥαβδοῦχος, carry a rod or wand, esp. as a badge of office, Hippias Erythr. ap. Ath. 6.259d; of the Roman lictors, bear the fasces, D.C. 48.43:—Pass., have the fasces borne before one, Plu. Num. 10.
