II. that which is learnt by asking, tidings, news, A. Th. 54 (Stob. read πίστις), E. El. 690; π. κατ’ ἐσθλὴν ὕδατος AP 6.203 (Laco or Phil.); κατὰ πύστιν ᾗ χωροίη according as they learnt which way he was gone, Th. 1.136; κατὰ π. τοῦ τρέφοντος by information received from the foster-father, D.H. 1.81; πύστει τῶν προγενομένων by hearing of what was done before, Th. 3.82; τὰ ὑπὸ πύστιν ἐρχόμενα J.
