A. vapour-bath, made by throwing odorous substances on hot embers confined under a cloth, Hdt. 4.75; πυρίαις χρῆσθαι ἐκ λίθων διαπύρων Str. 3.3.6; τὰ σώματα ταῖς π. εὖ διατίθησι Plu. 2.658d; πυρίαν ἐφεῦρεν [Μήδεια] Palaeph. 43: metaph., γίνονται οἷον πυρίαι ἐν τῷ αἵματι Arist. PA 651a1.
