A. cake of roasted wheat and honey, Ephipp. 8.3, cf. Trypho ap.Ath. 3.114b; given to him who kept awake best during a παννυχίς, Call. Fr. 2.6P.: hence, generally, meed of victory, prize, τοῦ γὰρ τεχνάζειν ἡμέτερος ὁ π. for stratagem 'we take the cake (or biscuit)', Ar. Th. 94, cf. Eq. 277.
