A. shed the feathers, moult, Ar. Av. 106, Pl. Phdr. 246c, Com.Adesp. 172, Arist. HA 564a32, 600a23: metaph., to be plucked, fleeced, plundered, Ar. Av. 284; π. τὸν πλοῦτον Philostr. VA 6.36 (πτερορροεῖν is interpol. in Arist. GA 783b17).
