II. foreshown, esp. by an oracle, ἐμοὶ γὰρ ἦν π. ἐκ πατρός S. Tr. 1159; ὡς τὸ θεῖον ἦν π. as the divine oracle ran, ib.1163; ὥς σφι αἰεὶ τὠυτὸ π. ἐγίνετο Hdt. 5.63; πρόφαντα δέ σφι . . ἐγίνετο oracles were delivered to them, Id. 9.93; σημεῖον π. J. AJ 18.6.9.
