II. without a living, starving, Luc. DMort. 15.3, Man. 4.113, Vett.Val. 46.12; ἄτεκνος καὶ ἄ. καὶ προώλης, an imprecatory form in CIG 3915.46 (Hierapolis).
III. perh. having no fixed subsistence, nomad, Ἱππημολγῶν γλακτοφάγων ἀβίων τε Il. 13.6 (various expl. in p.145 D.); but prob. Ἀβίων, pr. n., cf. Arr. An. 4.1.1, Str. 7.3.2, etc.; Ἄ. Σαυρομάται Mus.Belg. 16.70 (Attic, ii A.D.).
