A. relax before, τὸν στόμαχον Ath. 2.45e; weaken beforehand, in Pass., Chrysipp.Stoic. 3.123, Gal. 13.566; reduce the force of a blow, Id. UP 3.8; π. τὸ ἐνστατικόν weaken theresistance beforehand, Alex.Aphr. in Top. 531.18.
2. release first, τὴν δεξιάν Sor. 1.111(προς‐ cod.).
II. weary before the time, τῷ κόπῳ τὰ σώματα Plb. 15.16.3:—pf. part. Pass. προεκλελυμένος Anon. ap. Suid. s.v. ἐκπαθεῖς.
2. metaph. of distance, weaken the force of a projectile, J. BJ 3.7.22:—so in Pass., of sounds, Ph. 2.140.
