ἀνευφημέω

A. shout εὐφήμει or εὐφημεῖτε: hence, as this was mainly done on sorrowful occasions, cry aloud, shriek, ἅπας δ’ ἀνηυφήμησεν (so Brunck for ἀνευφώνησεν)οἰμωγῇ λεώς S. Tr. 783, cf. E. Or. 1335, Pl. Phd. 60a.

2. proclaim, c. acc. et inf., Alex.Aphr. in Metaph. 767.30, cf. Simp. in Ph. 1360.20: c. dupl. acc., Dam. Pr. 58.

II. later, receive or honour with auspicious cries, τινὰ ὡς εὐεργέτην J. BJ 4.2.5, cf. 2.21.4, Hdn. 6.4.1.
