πίτνω

A. Νίκας ἐν ἀγκώνεσσι πίτνων Id. N. 5.42, cf. I. 2.26, A. Ch. 1056, Ag. 1128 (lyr.), E. Hec. 23, al.: impf. ἔπιτνον, poet. πίτνον, B. 16.6, S. OC 1732 (lyr.), etc.: πιτνῶ is given as pres. by Gramm., as Hdn.Gr.2.290, and πιτνεῖς is found in codd. of E. Heracl. 77; but cf. Sch.Il. 16.827; forms with -ον- from -εο- are not found (προσπιτνοῦμεν, v.l. in S. OC 1754, is unmetrical).
