II. disabling of the nerves, paralysis, Thphr. Fr. 11, Dsc. 1.6, Ruf. ap. Orib. 8.39.2, Gal. 8.208 ; also of the eyes, i.e. nystagmus, Cels. 6.6.36 : generally, π. τῶν σωμάτων, of the effect of strong wine, Com.Adesp. 106.13 ; ἡ λύπη ψυχῆς π. Cleanth.Stoic. 1.130, cf.Plb. 30.32.10.
